Warren County Probate Records

Warren County probate records comprise wills, estate administration papers, contested estate filings, guardianship matters, trusteeship matters, conservatorships, formal accountings, minor's trust fund records, and related Probate Part filings. Interested parties may access Warren County ordinary estate or probate files, such as wills, letters testamentary or administration, many orders, inventories, and accountings, at the Warren County Surrogate's Court after paying the state-specified copying fees (N.J.S.A. 22A:2-30).

Despite the presumed openness of probate records, the following categories of records are inaccessible to the public:

• Guardianship records (minors and incapacitated adults)
• Adoption records
• Confidential personal identifiers and sensitive financial data
• Other confidential court records under Rule 1:38-3 (e.g., certain Family Part records, child abuse or neglect reports, domestic violence materials, some medical or psychiatric reports, etc.).
• Court-sealed records

Note: New Jersey Courts' electronic access and case systems may provide access to some newer court records, but not to probate files or certified copies. For search assistance, contact the Surrogate's Office directly.
